The "Shoot For A Cure" Charity Sporting Clays program was
established in Northern California in 2003, with 86 shooters at our
first event. In four years we have grown to six events covering twelve
states. These events have introduced hundreds of new people to the fun
and competition of Sporting Clays shooting, while raising hundreds of
thousands of dollars for leukemia research.
In this endeavor, we have partnered with the
UFCW
Leukemia/Lymphoma Fund and
Clays for Kids. The
United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) has set up it's fund in
such a way that every dollar raised is used to support the Leukemia and
Lymphoma Society's thirty leukemia research facilities nationwide.
Because of this research over
200,000 more people are
surviving with leukemia today than there were four years ago and the
cure rate has risen to over
86%!!!
The "Shoot For A Cure" program has brought together
labor unions, outdoor organizations, contractors, business leaders and
elected officials for a great cause - and we're growing! Our goal for
2008 is to raise $200,000 and to expand our Patron Sponsor program.
Our five year goal is to have twelve shoots per year, establish
regional and national championships, and raise $500,000 annually for
research.........
See you on the Course!
